Frequently asked questions

Counselling in Plymouth, near Saltash and Yelverton, Devon

How often are appointments?

For best results and effectiveness, weekly appointments are best taking place on the same day and time each week. If weekly appointments are not possible for you for any reason, we can work fortnightly, again having the same day and time slot for each appointment.

When are appointments available?

Monday-Friday from 9.30am. Some early evening slots may be available. Please telephone me on 07379 693883 or email me for availability.

What is the cost and how long are the sessions?

Sessions last 60 minutes and cost £45.00. I have two concession places for clients who may be in financial difficulty and where we can negotiate a fee.

Payment can be made by cash or by direct bank transfer. Payment us due at the end of each session.

I offer an initial free 30-minute no-obligation video call or telephone call consultation for a two-way-assessment so that both sides are comfortable about working together and to understand what you would like to gain from counselling.

How frequent are the sessions?

Weekly sessions are best for clients for growth, development and healing - same day, same time keeps your space in my practice. Fortnightly can be offered if you are unable to commit to weekly appointments for any reason.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the individual needs and circumstances - it can be short-term (usually a minimum of 6-10 sessions) or open-ended for long term deeper work.

Will I be able to change the appointment or cancel?

Each appointment booked for you is your slot over an agreed period of time reserves the space for you for our work together.

If something crops up for you and you need to change the appointment, please call or message me on 07379 693883 or email me to see if another time slot is available.

Sometimes, exceptional circumstances may make it necessary to cancel an appointment and I ask for 48 hours notice of cancellation in these circumstances. Otherwise missed or cancelled appointments are chargeable.

Is what I tell you confidential?

I adhere to the Code of Ethics and I discuss this in detail at our first session. Information is not disclosed outside of the therapeutic setting without the client's permission except in rare legal circumstances of it there was a risk of serious harm to yourself or others.
